Milltek have been supplying their hi-flow sports catalyst and downpipe assemblies for the Golf 5-generation of vehicles since it was first released back in 2005. Since then, they have owned two Golf GTis, an Audi TT 2.0T and an Audi S3, all of which covered many miles of varied development motoring – including considerable time on the racing circuit under track day conditions. All the vehicles were remapped to suit their higher-flowing exhausts and all vehicles were fitted with an uprated polyurethane engine torque arm insert.
The primary reason for fitting this uprated part to the 2.0T cars is to reduce the amount of movement these engine produce during acceleration and deceleration. Not only does this improve the stability of the exhaust system, it also has the added bonus of making gear shifting smoother to enhance the driving experience further.
Such has been the success and reliability of this combination of torque arm insert and the Milltek downpipe and catalyst, Milltek have upgraded the downpipe kits to include the Powerflex engine torque arm insert as standard.
